Diabetes 2 Diagnosis Check

Sudden Diagnosis of Diabetes 2 Combined with a
Mental Ilness-Bipolar Affective Disorder
An event such as being diagnosed with Diabetes 2, causes shock and trauma to a person. Who is already affected by a psychiatric disability. When first told that you have a Mental Illness, there are the same phases you are now challenged by now being explained to you about Diabetes 2. The following Phases that you feel and think of are as follows:
Shock – “I can't believe it!”
Denial - “This can't be happening to me!”
Grief – I can no longer take care of myself in my world!”
Despair and Depression - “This is awful! There is no hope!”
Anger - “How could this happen!”
And Acceptance - “I need to get on with my life!”
Acceptance is the final result and to humble oneself realising it is the utmost requirement to not feel angry with the internal words of “Why me, why me.”

It takes some time to reach the final positive aspect effects of a now knew way to manage
and cope with enormous changes of a persons daily life style to live with a totally new food
regime, diet control to limit excessive intake of sugar.
Medications are another requirement to maintain the Blood Sugar Levels initiated also by
checking his/her BSL's. The valuable equipment is a provision to test one's immediate
sugar level. Then fill a record book keeps an up to date register of the fluctuating blood
sugar levels.
Why? This is to record any unusual changes. It is vital to consult one's General
Practioner; and to visit the Diabetic Clinic for further instruction and to discuss a well
balanced diet with a Dietician.
There may be some persons who cannot take medications due to detrimental effects with
one's normal regime of already medications prescribed. Why; this raises problems when
combining medications together. Serious effects regarding the use of other medication
can be very dangerous, as described in the following personal experience below.
A Personal Serious Experience
*Relating to a very recent personal frightening short discussion by a doctor who rang me
and said, “It is imperative that you go to hospital as your life will be effected by a heart
attack.”
The fact that adding a medication during the last few months to reduce fluid retention in my
legs and feet actually caused the need for me to be admitted to hospital. It was discovered
by the Pathology Department that very same day after having a blood test. The
medication is called Frusemide (Generic name). Why and what happened was that this
medication was flushing out (my urinating constantly) vital elements needed for the my
body to function naturally. These two essential elements so required for the body to
function healthily were Potassium and Magnesium. Tests showed that these very needed
for the body to live were at extremely low levels. For this reason, admitting myself to
hospital straight-away was required if I wanted to live the next day.
The finding of the serious problems had an excellent final outcome for my well-being and
to live safely once again. A new medication has been prescribed and now proven a
wonderful change health wise relating to my Diabetes 2.
The Symptom effects causing the messages of the serious affects were:
Loss of concentration
Major feelings of fatigue
Speech becomes so demanding to even make an effort to talk
Aching muscles and weakness
No desire to perform normal home tasks
Eating hits rock bottom with no desire to provide for oneself
Adds to problems of loneliness
Feelings of giving up, but no suicidal feelings and thoughts
Need for support on high level to feel loved, wanted and to feel inclusive in your
community
Loss of self-motivation
Sleeping or nodding off constantly in any environment
Long want to ignore world by lying in bed for hours and hours causing isolation
Ignoring phone calls in all aspects of communication level
Isolation causing feelings of agoraphobia
Constant dreaming
It is important to covey this information to health professionals and other people
due to having a major mental illness. It raises issues of people may to experience
more health, anxiety and other medical problems.
Diabetes on the Rise
*In Australia, Diabetes has increased 'significantly.' It Is reaching epidemic proportions,
especially amongst young children who are obese. Australia has now super-ceded
America as the most obese nation in the world.
In my young school days we kept ourselves very busy physically during and after school.
We rode our bicycles, did a lot of running, played various sports. Other activities included
playing Australian rules football, cricket, soccer, basketball, while the girls played netball,
softball, and basketball. We did cross country running and involved ourselves in
swimming and sports day events.” Due to these fun physically active lifestyles, there
were no significant concerns or problems regarding obesity.
These days, however, schools teach young people how to use computers, and therefore
how to sit in a chair all day, everyday.
Mass media promotes very poor eating habits, indeed. After all, it is much easier to buy
junk food than it is to prepare healthy family meals.
Another contributing factor is that a lot of food is often out of reach for low income workers,
pensioners, people on Centrelink allowances, students.
The food we need most is out of reach for pensioners, people on Centrelink Allowances
and others. These Australian citizens are living beyond the sustaining vital health food
requirements everyday. Their health and will-being needs are therefore seriously affected.
Other major affects that contribute to a persons 'behaviours are:
Domestic violence
Break down of marriage(s) of which is so destructive when children are involved
Suicide, acts of homicidal revenge that thus cause fatal deaths of children and
parents.
Very poor communication skills, both ways
Major financial burdens, (the most important requirements of all people: (food,
shelter and clothing).
Bankruptcy
Son or daughters running away from their homes. Why? Domestic violence, no
helpful communication provided, sexual abuse, verbal abuse, physical abuse, total
neglect of needs required, e.g.: Going to school, tidying uo one's bedroom etc.
Emotional abuse, mental abuse.
Mental Illness
Not having a healthy diet is related so much to the many most unfavourable
outcomes in many peoples lives
Again it is so a clear and the transparent fact all these negative factors will definitely
rise and that the Greed of Mankind is so apparent.
Question? Should these heads, CEO's, Politicians etc. Should they be made
accountable for their actions of not making worthwhile changes for all people
There are five core groups of foods that are necessary in a person's daily living who have
Diabetes type 2. These food requirements are also a necessity in all people's lives
globally.
These are:
1. Vegetables and Legumes
2. Fruit
3. Milk, Yoghurt, Cheese or Alternatives
4. Meat, Fish, Chicken, Eggs, Nuts
5. Bread, Cereals, Rice, Pasta, Noodles
These foods form the basis for healthy eating. This can also be the foundation for all
people worldwide. Sadly, some countries don't have all these healthy eating opportunities.
In Australia the soaring cost of the essential foods for 'all' people are on the top shelf and
can not be reached.
Conclusion
All people can be effected by the negative aspects of Diabetes 2 no matter who they are.
However, people who have Diabetes and a major mental illness, and living on a pension
(DSP) because they are psychiatric-ally disabled, are even hit worse this also includes all
people who have a disability of varying types. The Government, health services, schools
especially, and communities across Australia need to be continually be made aware of the
enormous personal and financial costs of people who suffer multiple health problems.
Diabetes alone is now becoming an epidemic burden for Australians.
Diabetes 2 is known as the “Silent Killer.”
